Veterans Can… Deliver enablement Grants

Guidance to members of the community

SUBMISSIONS OPEN 1st MAY 2026

Veterans Can (VC…) has established a unique grant-making programme to enable our ‘Veterans Can… Deliver’ mission – these grants will enable members of the VC… community to receive a one-off grant in support of an appropriate Veteran initiated or Veteran-focused enterprise.

These grants are to support initiatives that match the VC… mission statement and focus on the positive side of post military life.

Definition of Appropriate

VC… Deliver Grants are awarded based on this definition of “appropriate” and will be deemed appropriate if one or both of the following are met:

  • Projects/enterprise that has been established by Veterans to have a positive impact for themselves or those around them.
  • Projects/enterprise that has been established to support others and the impact can, in part, be attributed to the Veterans Can… community.

Two grants of £5,000 will be available from 1st May 2026.

The VC… Deliver programme has been set up to support small, positive initiatives nominated by members of the VC… community with the intent of delivering tangible and real impact.

The eligibility, application and nomination criteria are simple and in accordance with the timeline below;

The independent, autonomous and democratic way in which choices are made in the VC… community means applicants and recipients of the VC… Deliver Grant may differ from recipients of other grant-making organisations.

  • Traditional campaigning or lobbying projects
  • Retrospective funding respects
  • The repayment of loans or debts

What information is required

Applications for VC… Deliver Grant Programme are assessed for suitability by the VC… Board before a short-list is decided and taken to a vote by members of the VC… community. In assessing applications, the following factors are taken into consideration:

  • Information provided to evidence that the applicant(s) has satisfactory operating and risk management procedures.
  • Clarity around exactly what a VC… Deliver grant would be spent on – and why. The board and the wider VC… community will want to ensure the project is well costed.
  • What real and tangible outcomes the project will bring about.
  • How the project will reflect the Veterans Can… values and help address our mission.
  • Details around impact – real and perceived.

Notice of Grant Award

You will be notified about whether your application has been shortlisted, or reasons why it might not have been, in accordance with the time line given.

While the voting will be anonymous, the results will be published in ‘The Can’ – our app.

Ample time will be given for “electioneering” and applicants are encourages to use this to draw attention to their cause.

The applicant who secures the most votes will be advised as to how the Grant can be accepted and the associated terms and conditions.

Only members of the Veterans Can… community are entitled to vote, they can only place one vote and their membership number (from their ‘Have A Say” coin) must be used to prove eligibility.

Decision making for grant applications short-listing is made at the discretion of the VC… judging panel and the applicant who receives the highest number of votes will be allocated the grant.

Grant Monitoring

If your organisation receives a grant award, you will be asked to complete a report in order to ensure adherence to the initial application and to keep the VC… community abreast of the project.
