About the Event
Veterans Can… Christmas was held at the home of the historic Inns of Court and City Yeomanry on Chancery Lane in London. The event was attended by over 60 guests, 50+ being members of the Veterans Can… community – from around the world, including 3 Yeoman Warders, 3 In-Pensioners from the Royal Hospital Chelsea, one former POW, one member who arrived from Australia a few hours earlier and several geographically embarrassed former RAF navigators!
The evening started with a brief slideshow accompanied by the first public playing of “The Veterans Can… blues” before Garrath stood up to offer some reflections on 2025 and a look ahead to 2026. Once he’s done, Garrath then introduced those in attendance to Liz McConaghy, who shared her powerful story from a young and naive RAF crewman fresh out of Northern Ireland, through the peaks and troughs of her life, to ending up where she is now, an author, speaker, post-traumatic growth advocate, and a board member of Veterans Can…
After the obligatory (but very good) group photo, we ate a fantastic Nepalese curry with all the accoutrements before retiring to the bar, sponsored by The Powder Monkey team, for too many bang average dits!
It was a cracking evening and one we hope to repeat.
